INDIANAPOLIS, July 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Interactive Intelligence Inc. , a global developer of Microsoft-based business communications software, has formed a wholly-owned subsidiary named Vonexus Inc. The new subsidiary will be responsible for distribution of the company's Enterprise Interaction Center(R) (EIC) product -- a standards-based all-software IP PBX targeted at Microsoft-centric small and medium-sized businesses. Vonexus, in conjunction with Interactive Intelligence, will also be involved in the marketing and development of EIC. (Photo: NewsCom: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/19990914/IILOGO ) "We believe that we can become a significant provider in the burgeoning IP PBX market, and we're ready to go after it in a big way," said Interactive Intelligence president and chief executive officer, Dr. Donald E. Brown. "Creating a subsidiary dedicated to this effort provides the necessary focus and motivation to achieve our goals. As a result of our many IP telephony innovations -- including the industry's first all-software IP PBX using Intel's voice processing software instead of special hardware boards, and pioneering the development of feature-rich, server-based IP telephony using the SIP standard -- customers get more functionality for less money, and avoid being locked into a particular vendor's phones and other devices.""We understand that SMBs have special needs, not the least of which are the deployment of applications designed to increase collaboration and communication, the need to integrate and streamline back-end processes, and the demand for demonstrable and rapid return on investment," said Vonexus president and former Interactive Intelligence executive vice president of sales, Jerry Fleming. "EIC is uniquely positioned to meet these needs with a wealth of Microsoft-based, productivity-enhancing features for corporate and mobile users alike, simple and cost-effective converged all-software architecture, and hundreds of customers plus 10 years of development experience behind it."EIC was first released in 1997, and is the only all-software IP PBX developed exclusively for Microsoft SMB customers. It comes with a host of productivity-enhancing applications, including a Windows-based softphone for presence management, call control, and directory look-up; Exchange-based unified messaging; and data integration to MS CRM.EIC integrates with Internet Explorer and SharePoint portal-based user interfaces for the mobile workforce. It also works with cell phones and wireless-enabled laptops, such as Intel's Centrino devices, and personal digital assistant devices, such as Microsoft's Pocket PC, to give distributed and mobile employees a complete IP-based "virtual office."For on-site employees, EIC supports both analog phones and IP-based phones. EIC also has tight integration with the award-winning Polycom SoundPoint IP family of phones.Vonexus will sell EIC through Interactive Intelligence enterprise IP telephony value-added resellers. These VARs will also provide pre- and post-sales support. Vonexus is also working with partners of HP, Intel, Microsoft and Polycom to distribute EIC.Alliance Systems has been selected as the first master distributor to provide pre-assembled, packaged EIC solutions throughout North America. CommLogik Corp. has been selected as the master distributor for Latin America. Vonexus is planning to add master distributors for EIC throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.Vonexus employees include professionals with experience in development, packaging and distribution of IP PBX systems, including EIC and third-party IP PBX products.
