Santera Systems Inc., a leading provider of now- and
next-generation switching solutions, today announced its partnership
and non-exclusive OEM agreement with Spatial Wireless, a developer of
next-generation wireless networking solutions for today's wireless
networks. Under this agreement, Spatial Wireless will incorporate
Santera's SanteraOne(TM) Media Gateway into its Spatial Atrium(TM)
portfolio of distributed mobile switching solutions to enable mobile
operators to realize immediate improvements in network efficiencies
while dramatically lowering network costs.
The SanteraOne Broadband Office Exchange (BoX) Media Gateway
allows carriers to realize significant ongoing capital and operating
cost reductions and offer both voice and data services at affordable
prices to their subscribers. Spatial Atrium is a distributed
architecture call server, media gateway and element management system
that supports Distributed Mobile Switching Center (DMSC) solutions as
well as network overlay deployments for distributed Gateway MSC and
network services solutions.
"Through this partnership, Santera is able to broaden its customer
base into the wireless arena while remaining focused on our core
wireline switching business," said Scott Weidenfeller, vice president
of business development for Santera Systems. "Santera and Spatial
Wireless have been working together for almost two years and we both
share the same passion for delivering carrier grade solutions to our
customers. Spatial Wireless provides the wireless industry's premier
call server and element management system, and with our Media Gateway
as part of the Spatial Atrium portfolio, delivers a comprehensive
solution to make distributed mobile switching a reality for today's
networks."
The integrated solution is a powerful multi-protocol switch
capable of supporting GSM, CDMA, UMTS and GSM1x signaling interfaces
and access networks. With these products deployed in existing
networks, mobile service providers are assured of a smooth migration
from 2G to 2.5G to 3G wireless networks. Inherent within this solution
are innovations such as any-to-any TDM/IP/ATM bearer switching
(including native TDM-TDM), superior density and scalability,
geographic redundancy and integrated call server/media gateway
operations, administration and maintenance (OA&M) to further support
wireless operators' needs for performance, flexibility and reliability
in their networks.
"By integrating Santera's industry leading media gateway with the
Spatial Atrium portfolio, we have jointly developed a powerful
distributed switch that provides mobile service providers an immediate
path to profitability," said Seshu Madhavapeddy, vice president of
product management and business development for Spatial Wireless. "Our
long-standing relationship with Santera is based on a shared
commitment to open standards and integration to provide operators the
most flexible solution to meet their performance and functional
requirements."
About Santera
Santera Systems Inc., located in Plano, Texas, offers a
carrier-class next-generation switch with both trunk and line
functionality, enabling true circuit to packet migration. In its core
applications of enhanced voice switching, integrated voice and data
switching, and voice over broadband, Santera delivers significant
capital and operating cost efficiencies of 50 to 70 percent. The
founding pioneers of next-generation companies Cascade, Shasta,
Ardent, and Arris created Santera Systems in 1998. More information
can be obtained at www.santera.com or by calling either 972-461-6300
or toll free 1-866-519-9000.
About SanteraOne
SanteraOne is a carrier-grade integrated voice and data switching
solution delivering key applications such as full feature IXC Tandem,
Class 4/5, PRI Offload, packet/cell switching and Voice over Broadband
(VoB) services all on a single platform. SanteraOne has both circuit
(TDM) and packet fabrics and supports all of the regulatory
requirements of a legacy system (including LNP, CALEA and E911)
enabling a graceful migration from traditional circuit-based networks
to next generation packet-based technology such as ATM, Frame Relay &
IP. SanteraOne is comprised of the Open Feature Exchange (OFX), which
includes a media gateway controller, signaling gateway and an
applications server; the SanteraOne Broadband Office Exchange (BoX),
which is a high-density media gateway; and the SanteraOne element
management system (NetScan) that delivers common GUI-based management
of the complete system.
About Spatial Wireless
Spatial Wireless develops and deploys next-generation networking
solutions for today's mobile networks. Using its patented,
breakthrough technology, Spatial Wireless dramatically reduces
operational expenditures and lowers capital costs for mobile service
providers worldwide by making today's networks more efficient. Spatial
Atrium(TM), the company's flagship product, is a high capacity,
distributed architecture core switch for Distributed Mobile Switching
Center (MSC), Distributed Gateway MSC and network services overlay
solutions. With its commercially proven products, Spatial Wireless has
established a new paradigm enabling operators to rethink the way they
design and operate their core networks. For more information about
Spatial Wireless visit www.spatialwireless.com or call 1-972-437-6250.
About Spatial Atrium
Spatial Atrium is the first generally available Distributed Mobile
Switching Center (DMSC) on the market. Commercially deployed today,
this high capacity, multi-protocol core switch delivers dramatic
improvements in network cost reduction, operational efficiency,
capacity, and services innovation on today's 2G/2.5G networks. With
its broad standards support and 3G foundation, Spatial Atrium is ready
to evolve seamlessly from 2G to 2.5G to 3G and All-IP with simple
software upgrades. Spatial Atrium also can serve in Distributed
Gateway MSC or network services deployments that leverage current
infrastructure and improve the profitability of operators' existing
networks. The switch supports rapid deployment of overlay solutions
including: Network Simplification and Long Distance Bypass solutions
that lower capital costs, simplify complex network configurations and
minimize long distance expenses; Mobile Number Portability solutions;
new 3G-like Multi-Modal services that "mix" voice and data sessions;
IP-SS7 Gateway configurations to simplify IP-based services
introduction; and solutions to enable services transparency across
disparate core networks.
