AC/DCs stake claim as the first field-configurables

Rockwall, Texas—Excelsys says its Xcite family of AC/DC "field-configurable" power supplies is a first in the power supply industry. The 400-1200 watt plug n' play family comprises four front-end chassis (powerPacs) and seven output modules (powerMods), with each modular solution providing a complement of DIP switches and a trim pot to allow users to quickly configure output requirements.

The system's four front-ends, measuring 10.25-by-5-by-1.59 inches (1U high), are available in 400, 700, 1,000, and 1,200-watt versions. These supplies feature universal AC input with active power-factor-correction, and special attention to thermal management for improved system reliability.

Up to six powerMods (with isolated and floating outputs) can be mated with a powerPac. The output modules offer single and dual outputs ranging from 1.5 to 58 VDC and up to 50 amps. The powerMods, which provide up to 240 watts, feature a line regulation better than ±0.1 percent, load and cross regulation of ±0.2 percent, and a ripple and noise of 1 percent p-p. Transient response is 250 microseconds for a 25 to 75 percent load change. Operating efficiency is as high as 90 percent.

Outputs can be tied in parallel for more power, or in series for higher voltages. Each output module offers remote-sense functionality, remote on/off, power good output and wireless current sharing.
