Malvern, Pa. — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has released a wet tantalum high-energy capacitor, which it says offers the highest capacitance of any similar device on the market. The HE3 capacitor features a unique case design and the company's SuperTan cathode technology for improved reliability and performance in high-energy applications.

Optimized for energy-storage and pulse-power applications in high-reliability avionics and military devices, the HE3 capacitor is housed in an all tantalum, hermetically-sealed case, and is manufactured to withstand high stress and hazardous environments. A unique double seal is said to provide added reliability and performance.

By combining Vishay's SuperTan hybrid cathode technology in combination with industry-leading anode designs, the HE3 achieves a capacitance range of 3300 μF to 72000 μF and exhibits low equivalent series resistance (ESR) of 0.035 ohms at 25°C and 1 kHz.

The HE3 capacitor offers a ±20% standard capacitance tolerance at 120 Hz and +25°C, with tolerances of ±10% available. The operating temperature range is -55°C to 85°C

Pricing: Ranges from $250 to $750 each for U.S. delivery.
Availability: Samples and production quantities are available with lead times of approximately eight to ten weeks for larger orders.
Datasheet: HE3 capacitor
