Sharc DSP helps pack audio recording studio into a laptop
An audio recording studio has been packed into a laptop computer card by harnessing Analog Devices' Sharc floating-point DSP. Universal Audio's Solo ExpressCard can mix and master at sample rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz, and emulates analog effects from vintage devices made by such companies as Moog, Neve, Roland and SPL.

VinChip offers India-developed 32-bit RISC processor
VinChip Systems Inc. (San Jose, Calif.) has announced the availability of the VinRZ5110 32-bit RISC processor core, which it claims is the first 32-but processor to be developed in India. It has a DSP-centric instruction set and low gate count for low power consumption, the company said.

Tensilica Inc. has announced the ConnX family of DSPs that it is positioning as the best solution yet to meet the performance and cost requirements of 3G and 4G system-on-chip designs. Leading the family out of the gate is the ConnX Baseband Engine for wireless infrastructure, featuring an optimized instruction set with 200 new instructions.
